PROJECT NAME

SOFT HARD

PROJECT DATES

Jan 2022 – May 2022

The project started by choosing a soft material and being given a hard material. The aim of the project was to create a retail space for a postgraduate fashion designer using both of the materials as soft and hard.

I chose resin as my soft material and plywood was given to me as my hard material.

To begin, I started researching into plywood and resin whilst doing some quick experiments in order to discover qualities within the two materials to work with in the project.

I was interested in the idea of layering within plywood. I experimented with sanding and cutting away different parts of the material to reveal the different adjacent layers.

Similarly, with the resin, I liked how added materials could be used to make the resin more colourful and interesting and I was hoping to use the material to take the shape of its mould.

DEVELOPMENT

I developed my materials so that the plywood gave the appearance of cliff-like aesthetic and the resin was going to capture depth of water.
