PROJECT NAME

Cityscapes: 'Festival of Architecture 2020'

The design brief was to create a visual promotional leaflet to celebrate the structures, details and urban life that makes up the ‘Festival of Architecture 2020’ from a freelance perspective. It needed to be traditional as well as contemporary.

I started off this project by exploring the different points of perspective which then helped me to create the following studies, including the St.Paul’s Cathedral piece and the two continuous line pieces.

Then, I needed to start to gather ideas for what my project would be focused on and I chose New York. I went there in the summer of 2019 and this allowed me to gather images of buildings as well as the cultural life. These images then gave me inspiration to explore using different Photoshop techniques.

After that, I began to think about how I wanted my final piece to turn out and I wanted it to link to the inspiration that I got from my trip from Morocco in 2018. This gave me the idea to have a leaflet that was a 3D promotional piece. I wanted the exterior textures to be those of the buildings that are in the city of New York and I wanted the inside patterns to reflect the personal and imaginative ideas. How people really make the space their own.

My Final Piece

The final piece that I came up with was a 3D promotional leaflet that had all of the exterior textures on the outside of the leaflet. All of the personal, handmade textures would be on the inside to reflect my intentions.
